Beat the Jelly Queen in the Latest Incarnation of the Candy Crush Series

Candy Crush Jelly Saga (iOS/Android, Free) has the gameplay that Candy Crush players are used to, but in the tradition of the original, has enough new features that players know marginally what is happening as sudden new changes appear on the screen that they weren’t expecting.

The plot of the game is simple: the goal is to beat the puzzles of the Jelly Queen in Candy Crush style, by placing candies together and crushing them. New types of jellies produce different types of results, and each will add to your score, while gaining abilities and skill-based candies (that can also be purchased in-app, if you find favourite “weapons” help you achieve your goals) over the many levels of the game.

Candy Crush Jelly Saga has over 100 different levels, as well as Jelly Queen “boss modes” allowing you to directly challenge the Jelly Queen. It’s a fascinating world, but one that will be both new and familiar to Candy Crush players, leading to more strategy fun alone and with friends.

Verdict: Candy Crush has been around a long time, but continues to make innovations in game play that have transformed the game from the original into something far more complex and unique. While the idea of making a candy land world from what was a simple strategy puzzle seems implausible, Jelly Saga proves that we’re just not done with candy yet.
